Job Overview :
Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) & Ultra Pure Water (UPW) Systems
Responsible for leading and managing commissioning activities for Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Ultra Pure Water (UPW) systems, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and handed over in compliance with project specifications, performance guarantees, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities :
Commissioning Planning & Management
- Lead commissioning strategy, planning, and execution for ETP and UPW systems
- Review P&IDs, PFDs, control philosophy, and design documents
- Develop commissioning schedules, procedures, and method statements
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and client teams
Pre-Commissioning Activities
- Ensure mechanical completion and system readiness (MC checks, punch list clearance)
- Supervise flushing, cleaning, hydrotesting, and chemical cleaning activities
- Verify readiness of systems: ETP (equalization, clarification, biological systems), UPW (RO, EDI, ion exchange, UV systems), ZLD systems (MEE, ATFD where applicable)
Commissioning Execution & Start-Up
- Lead system commissioning, loop checking, and functional testing
- Coordinate PLC/SCADA/DCS commissioning with automation teams
- Start-up and stabilize plant operations
- Troubleshoot process, mechanical, and control issues
Performance Testing & Optimization
- Conduct performance testing and guarantee test runs (GTR)
- Ensure achievement of: Effluent discharge compliance, UPW quality parameters (resistivity, TOC, silica), Water recovery and ZLD targets
- Optimize system performance and efficiency
Documentation & Handover
- Review and approve commissioning reports and dossiers
- Ensure completion of: Test records and checklists, Calibration reports, SOPs and O&M manuals
- Manage final system handover to operations team
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and supervise commissioning engineers and site teams
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Conduct technical reviews and progress meetings
- Provide training to operations personnel
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce HSE policies and permit-to-work systems
- Ensure safe execution of commissioning activities
- Identify risks and implement mitigation measures
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree in: Chemical / Mechanical / Environmental Engineering
- Preferred certifications: Commissioning / Project Management certifications, Safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH)
- 8–12 years of experience in commissioning ETP, UPW, and ZLD systems
- Experience in industries such as semiconductor, pharma, oil & gas, or power
- Strong expertise in ETP, UPW, and ZLD systems: Biological and physico-chemical treatment, UF/RO multi-pass systems, EDI and ion exchange systems, MEE and ATFD systems, Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
- Commissioning planning and execution, Troubleshooting and root cause analysis, Project coordination and stakeholder management, Vendor and contract management.
- Leadership and team management, Communication and coordination, Decision-making and problem-solving, Ability to manage multiple systems and teams, Capability to work under tight project schedules
