Job Overview :
To lead and execute commissioning, start-up, and performance optimization of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, environmental regulations, and performance guarantees.
Responsibilities :
- Plan, coordinate, and execute pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for ETP and ZLD systems
- Review design documents including P&IDs, control philosophy, datasheets, and layouts for commissioning readiness
- Develop commissioning procedures, method statements, and checklists
- Supervise system flushing, chemical cleaning, leak testing, and equipment integrity checks
- Perform functional testing and trial runs of key equipment such as pumps, blowers, membranes, evaporators (MEE/MVRE), and dryers (ATFD)
- Validate control systems including PLC/SCADA logic, interlocks, alarms, and automation sequences
- Identify and troubleshoot process, mechanical, and control issues during commissioning and start-up
- Optimize system performance to achieve design parameters such as recovery, rejection rates, and ZLD compliance
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, vendors, and client teams for smooth project execution
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards and environmental regulatory requirements
- Prepare Commissioning Procedures, commissioning reports, performance test reports, O&M Manual and system documentation
- Conduct training for plant operators and hand over systems to operations team.
Requirements :
- Strong knowledge of ETP & ZLD technologies : Physico-chemical treatment systems, Biological treatment processes, UF and RO systems, Multiple Effect Evaporators (MEE), MVRE, Agitated Thin Film Dryers (ATFD) / Crystallizers, Sludge dewatering systems, Chemical dosing systems
- Familiarity with instrumentation : pH, ORP, conductivity, and turbidity analyzers, Flow, pressure, and level transmitters
- Basic understanding of PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, Structured commissioning approach and execution
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis, Vendor coordination and FAT/SAT participation
- Effective communication and coordination skills, Leadership and team supervision, Analytical problem-solving and decision-making
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Environmental Engineering or related field
- Typically 8–15 years of experience in commissioning of water, wastewater, or ZLD systems
- Strong knowledge of RO, UF, and thermal evaporation processes (MEE/MVRE/ATFD)
- Experience in industrial sectors such as oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or semiconductor preferred
- Strong coordination with multidisciplinary and multinational teams
