Job Overview
The Expeditor / Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement, expediting, and delivery of materials, equipment, and services for water and wastewater treatment projects. The role works closely with engineering, project management, vendors, and logistics teams to ensure all procurement activities align with project schedules, technical specifications, and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
- Execute procurement activities in line with project requirements, specifications, and budgets
- Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs to qualified vendors
- Conduct commercial and technical bid evaluations
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, Incoterms, and payment milestones
- Issue Purchase Orders (POs) aligned with contract terms
Expediting & Vendor Management
- Track and expedite supplier deliverables to meet project timelines
- Maintain expediting reports and material tracking systems
- Follow up with vendors on production, documentation, and shipment readiness
- Identify delays and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate inspections and FAT readiness
- Work with suppliers on Revenue Recognition
Project Coordination
- Interface with Project Managers, Engineers, QA/QC, and Logistics
- Align procurement schedules with project milestones
- Ensure compliance with approved vendor lists and specifications
- Support cost tracking and budget control
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain procurement records and audit trails
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and EPC standards
- Support audits with proper documentation
Risk Management
- Identify supply chain risks and mitigation strategies
- Monitor vendor risks
- Escalate critical delays proactively
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
- 8-12 years experience in EPC procurement/expediting
- Water treatment project experience preferred
- Technical knowledge - Pumps, blowers, agitators, Valves and flow control, Instrumentation and automation, Membrane systems (UF/RO), Piping systems (HDPE, PVC, Steel), Installation and Fabrication, Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP)
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills
- Excellent expediting and follow-up
