Job overview :
To ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all mechanical assets associated with ETP, STP, WTP, RO, UF, MBR, ZLD, ATFD, EDI, pumping stations, and utility systems through planned maintenance, condition monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position shall be responsible for maximizing equipment availability, reducing breakdowns, improving asset life cycle, and supporting achievement of plant performance KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Equipment Maintenance
Maintain and ensure reliability of rotating equipment including: Centrifugal, dosing, submersible, and screw pumps, Blowers, air compressors, agitators, mixers, Gearboxes, centrifuges, sludge dewatering systems
Maintain static equipment including: Pressure vessels, storage tanks, clarifiers, thickeners, Filter presses, piping systems, valves, strainers, heat exchangers
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Develop and execute: Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Condition-Based Maintenance
Prepare and manage: Daily schedules, weekly plans, monthly shutdowns
Monitor equipment health parameters: Vibration, bearing temperatures, lubrication, alignment
Ensure 100% PM compliance as per maintenance schedules
Breakdown Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Lead troubleshooting of: Pump and mechanical seal failures, Bearing failures, cavitation, vibration issues, Gearbox faults and piping leakages
Conduct: Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode Analysis, Implement corrective and preventive actions
RO, UF, MBR & ZLD Systems Maintenance
Maintain key treatment systems: RO/UF: high-pressure pumps, filters, membrane housings, CIP systems, MBR: air scouring systems, membrane racks, permeate pumps, ZLD: ATFD, MEE, crystallizers, centrifuges, slurry systems, UPW: RO & EDI skids, degasification systems, ion exchange units.
Asset Reliability Management
Monitor: Equipment condition trends, breakdown frequency, spare usage
Improve: MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair)
Maintain: Asset registers, maintenance logs, equipment history
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
Identify and manage critical spares
Maintain optimal inventory levels
Raise timely material requisitions
Verify spare quality against OEM specifications
Track consumption trends and maintenance budgets
Shutdown Planning & Execution
Prepare detailed shutdown plans and schedules
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, Vendors)
Ensure timely and efficient completion of shutdown activities
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with: Factory Act and site safety procedures, Permit-to-Work (PTW) and LOTO systems
Participate in: Safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations
Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling equipment
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain and update: Equipment history cards, PM records, breakdown reports, RCA reports, inventory records, shutdown reports, Daily and monthly maintenance/KPI reports
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for: Energy optimization, Reliability enhancement, Maintenance cost reduction, Equipment lifecycle extension
Requirements
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of:
- Pumps and pumping systems
- Blowers, compressors, and gearboxes
- Bearings, mechanical seals, and lubrication systems
- Hydraulic systems
Reliability Engineering Skills
- Hands-on experience with:
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- MTBF and MTTR improvement strategies
- Vibration analysis and alignment techniques
- Predictive and condition-based maintenance
