Role Overview

Sales Engineer / Technical Consultant is responsible for driving sales growth while providing comprehensive technical support and services to both new and existing clients.

Role involves building and maintaining strong client relationships, managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation to order closure, and offering expert technical guidance during and after project implementation.

Key responsibilities also include active participation in sales processes, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through quality service and effective technical solutions. The overall objective is to achieve consistent and sustainable growth within the region.

 

Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and inventive sales campaigns tailored to target industries, ensuring alignment with company goals and market opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through thorough outreach efforts, including networking with clients, consultants, contractors, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Generate inquiries and leads for specialty water treatment chemicals across all system types, across multiple industries including refining/process applications.
  • Provide reports on potential sales, market information, client activities, and lead status to management.

Tender & Proposal Management

  • Prepare, submit technical and commercial tenders for water treatment chemical programs and associated services across multiple industries, including oil & gas, power, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate closely with procurement, finance, and management teams to gather necessary data for costing, approvals, and risk assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals incorporating technical methodologies, system understanding, dosage and calculation sheets, compliance matrices, and commercial justifications.
  • Engage in technical clarifications, negotiations, and post-tender follow-ups.

Key Account Management

  • Manage client accounts that require enhanced attention, customized interactions, and value-driven service delivery beyond standard account handling.
  • Act as a ‘technical consultant on retainer’ for strategic clients, offering ongoing guidance on system optimization, troubleshooting, and chemical program improvement.
  • Continuously enhance the value proposition for key accounts by introducing new solutions, technologies, and best practices that improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Technical Expertise & Support

  • Provide expertise on chemical applications and dosage calculations, guiding clients in selecting the most suitable solutions for their specific needs.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution, including delivery commitments related to materials and services.

Customer Service & Client Relations

  • Respond promptly and professionally to all inquiries, service requests, and complaints, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide after-sales service by conducting site visits, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring optimal product performance.
  • Provide regular updates to clients through monthly reports, lab reports, water testing reports, and yearly performance evaluations.

Process Standardization and Integration Support

  • Deep understanding of ongoing integration activities and internal workflows to ensure alignment across departments and smooth adoption of new procedures.
  • Collaborate to streamline practices and enhance overall efficiency.

 

Requirements

  • B.Tech Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Technical Expertise: Strong command of water treatment processes, specialty chemicals, and system performance optimization across industries.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Skilled in conducting system assessments, performance diagnostics, and root cause analysis to deliver effective and sustainable treatment solutions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of costing, proposal development, and tender management, ensuring technically sound and competitive submissions.
  • Client Relationship Management: Experienced in developing long-term partnerships through consistent engagement, value addition, and high-level communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Comfortable operating in dynamic environments, taking ownership of projects from concept to completion, and continually improving processes to align with organizational goals.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and networking abilities to foster robust relationships with customers
  • Must be able to achieve sales targets and possess strong networking skills within the water treatment industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales or technical consultant in a water treatment industry
