Overview of the role
Senior Production Engineer shall be responsible to manage a large 4800 Sq mtr production facility for the fabrication ,assembly & manufacturing of of large capacity water treatment plants. Ensure timely delivery and maintain high QHSE standards.
Specific Duties/responsibilities
- Along with the Head of Production and Field Services, shall liase with the Project management team to agree on delivery schedules and priorities
- Planning and allocation of resources on the shop floor. Coordinate with manpower agencies for temporary resourcing needs
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on project priorities and material availability.
- Balance production capacity against customer delivery commitments.
- Monitor production loading and capacity utilization.
- Prepare rolling production forecasts.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose recovery plans.
- Track production progress against milestones.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, Stores, and Projects to remove constraints.
- Monitor production KPIs.
- Attend project kick off meetings for various projects
- Prepare project wise production related material requirements and raise requisition / reservation/BOM to project and store.
- Control the production inventory & minimize the waste.
- Coordinate with the internal team and ensure that necessary materials, services are available.
- Guide the production team for fabrication, machine shop, panel building and assembly of the products.
- Ensure delivery of the projects from production as per committed dates.
- Conduct factory tests and correction of snags on the system. Inspection against the engineering details and drawings.
- Preparation of production reports
- Work with the Head of Production to bring improvements in production facility and processes.
- Monitor production costs ,Reduce labour hours productivity ,Reduce scrap generation ,Optimize overtime etc.
- To provide technical support to the engineering and advice on production related aspects in the design. Review P & IDs and technical documents and make recommendations.
- Training, motivation and development of production technicians.
- Ensure adherence to the quality standards. Reduce reworks and errors in the production process.
- Maintain safe and clean work environment by constant educating and directing personnel on the proper use of equipment and resources in compliance with the company HSE policy and procedures.
- Enhancing productivity of staff and other resources.
- Maintain updated ERP entries.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment, tools and machinery.
- Lead Kaizen initiatives , Implement Lean Manufacturing ,Conduct Root Cause Analysis , Improve production workflow ,Reduce cycle time, Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) , Recommend automation opportunities.
- Involve in suppliers’ qualification process , Monitor subcontractor schedules & Ensure subcontractor quality .
- Complete all required documentation and work as per ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 new standards.
- Any other duties as may be agreed from time to time with the management.
- To supervise a team of production technicians ( The head count will range from 30-60)
- Works in production floor most of the time. Also required to attend site visits which may require working in hot conditions/ marine environment.
Requirements
- Highest level of personal integrity and standing.
- Highly self-motivated with a positive work ethic
- Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university.
- 10 + years of experience independently handling production planning and control (PPC) of custom manufacturing and assembly of high capacity and complex water treatment systems.
- Well versed with steel fabrication such as skids, structures & spools and plant assembly & manufacturing process
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing process.
