Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Operations team to execute Local projects in the USA. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of relevant experience, with a preference for those who have worked in water / wastewater treatment industry, EPC environment, international project experience and possess a deep understanding of mechanical equipment and package engineering. The role requires exceptional Engineering skills, including the ability to review documents/drawings from Gradiant Global Engineering Center in India and/or from outsourced Engineering consultants, interface with all other disciplines, coordination with Project Engineering Manager, and lead design review with Clients.
Responsibilities
- Engineering execution for water and wastewater treatment projects in the USA.
- Working as a Lead Engineer in the engineering department, shall primarily work directly on performing Mechanical engineering related to the project business under the direction of the Project Engineering Manager.
- Applying procedures and protocols that will enhance the quality, efficiency and repeatability of engineering activities.
- Ensure that engineering is completed accurately within schedule and budget.
- Receive the basic process design from the proposals / sales team.
- Support P&IDs preparation based on customer requirements
- Supervise / review basic Engineering, detailed Engineering based on customer and other disciplines design requirements. Be responsible for the design and technical support of all mechanical elements as part of an integrated system.
- Confirm compliance with customer specifications requirements
- Design submission to relevant authorities and follow up thoroughly for approval such as PE approval for tanks and vessels.
- Coordinate / interface with various disciplines to make sure Mechanical engineering meets process, civil, structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation requirements.
- Oversee review of vendor quotations and selection of vendors.
- Oversee and carry out review of Equipment list, Equipment and package datasheets, Line list, Valve List, General arrangement drawings, Fabrication drawings prepared by Mechanical Engineers and from various Vendors.
- Familiar with engineering and interface requirements of Tanks, Vessels, Pumps, Blowers, Heat Exchangers, Mixers, Package Equipment such as RO, UF, Clarifiers, Filter press, Centrifuge, Crystallizer, Chemical dosing, etc.
- Support FAT activities.
- Collaborate with QA/QC, and Construction Manager.
- Liaise with clients on technical aspects, making justifications as necessary for design direction.
- Lead in internal and external design reviews.
- Support during commissioning.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Equivalent)
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience as lead Engineer
- Water and wastewater treatment experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer skills like MS Office, basic 3D models review at high level.
- Detail engineering of complex/ skid-based /module-based treatment / stick-built systems/plants.
- Familiar with API, ASME, AWS, NACE and AWWA codes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with all levels of management.
- Ability to travel as required for project needs.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment and in an international business.
